Heat pump systems provide versatile heating, cooling, and humidity control—they move heat outside your home in the summer and pull heat into your home in the winter. For those in moderate climates, where the temperature doesn’t regularly drop below freezing, a heat pump can be the answer to your home comfort needs.
Comfort Features
Heat pumps vary in the number of stages or speeds they offer. Different speeds, or stages, can affect your comfort and the consistency of indoor temperature. The most basic is a single-stage heat pump, with airflow on or off, which can cause fluctuations to your indoor temperature and comfort. Two-stage models offer high- and low-stage heating and cooling to more efficiently heat or cool your space when outdoor weather changes to very cold or very hot conditions. These advanced features can provide more consistent comfort levels than a single-stage model. Humidity Control

Heat pumps are rated by their Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF), their Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and their Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER). These ratings are similar to miles per gallon (MPG) for a car: the higher the rating, the more energy-efficient the system.

Up to 19 SEER for premium energy savings with premium comfort features
The Infinity 18VS heat pump is different in a lot of ways. It offers variable-speed compression that can step down in 5 stages to as low as 25% of its capacity. That’s huge from a comfort perspective. The ability to run in lower speeds most of the time makes it quieter and more adept at removing humidity in the summer. It’s also significantly better than a 2-stage unit at keeping temperatures even. Plus, those lower speeds are the sweet spot for the unit’s best efficiency levels and for getting the most benefit out of other systems you might have like an air purifier because of more constant air flow through the system.
